Integrity.
Service.
Community.
These are the values on which The Sand Mountain Leader is founded. While other media locally and nationally may have lost their way when it comes to these kind of values, we will have our roots firmly planted in all three.
The choice of the name Leader for this newspaper wasn’t random. We chose it because we want to be a leader in the Sand Mountain community —not just any leader but a servant leader, a leader who prioritizes the needs of the community it serves over its own and leads by example.
The name also harkens back to days gone by when The Boaz Leader newspaper published here locally many years ago. It’s a nod to the past as we move forward to the future, as the inclusion of Sand Mountain in the name now better reflects the coverage area we will serve with this new version of The Leader.
A community newspaper, no matter how long it has been in business, has two primary responsibilities: 1) Provide its readers with the information they want to know or need to know. 2) Assist its advertisers in growing their businesses by putting their marketing message in front of as many customers and potential customers in the market as possible.
Here at The Leader, we have a talented staff in place to accomplish both of these important missions. Please know you can reach out to Editor Donna Thornton, Advertising Director Jonathan Bottomlee or any of our host of correspondents and contributors should you need any assistance. I’d be happy to help as well.
Everyone involved with The Leader has strong ties the community and a strong desire to help.
Every newspaper says it will provide second-to-none coverage, but when we say second-to-none coverage, we’re not just talking about all the news, sports, opinion and lifestyle stories readers will have exclusive access to each week. We are also talking about the second-to-none coverage of the market we will be able to provide our advertisers as we distribute 10,000 copies of The Leader every Wednesday into local homes. Direct mailed. Free of charge.
That’s more than three times the market coverage a local business can get using any other product. Which means second-to-none results for those who choose to invest their marketing dollars with us. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate the support we have already received, and we look forward to serving you and the community, with integrity, for many years to come.
May God bless this endeavor and may God bless this community. Amen.
