The Geraldine Bulldogs took care of business on Friday night as they traveled to take on the Madison County Tigers in a Class 3A, Region 8 matchup. The Bulldogs came away with a dominating 63-28 win over the Tigers thanks to 601 total offensive yards.
With the win over the Tigers, Geraldine stays undefeated at 3-0 and 2-0 in region play.
The Bulldogs started the game with a big defensive play by Tucker Warner recovering a fumble to give the Bulldogs the ball. Geraldine would take advantage of the turnover with running back Jordon Lankford running in the first score from 27-yards out to put Geraldine ahead 7-0.
After forcing Madison County to punt, Lankford and the Bulldogs would continue to produce points as Lankford would rush for a 16-yard score to put Geraldine ahead 15-0 over the Tigers.
Geraldine’s defense would also show out as Clay Chisenhall would pick off a Madison County pass to put the ball back in Geraldine’s hands. The Bulldogs would cash in another touchdown on the first play of their next drive with a Jon Beck Wade 15-yard rushing touchdown. Geraldine would enter the second quarter with a 21-0 lead.
The Bulldogs kept the offense rolling in the second quarter with two more scoring plays by Wade and Lankford. Despite two scoring drives by Madison County, the Bulldogs entered halftime with a 36-12 lead over the Tigers.
To kick off the second half, Wade would show off his arm with two scoring drives that ended with a 70-yard touchdown pass to Kade Justice and a 16-yard scoring toss to Gavin Eakins to put Geraldine up 49-12.
In the final quarter, Lankford would add on two more scoring plays with a 65-yard touchdown run and a 31-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. Geraldine would go on to stay undefeated with a 63-28 win over Madison County.
The Bulldogs were led by Lankford who finished with 230 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries. Wade would complete 5-8 passes for 141 yards and two passing touchdowns. Wade added 138 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Geraldine will look to stay undefeated next week as they host the Sylvania Rams.
